Baburnama is the 16th century autobiography of Babur, who was the founder of the Mughal Empire in India. It has been published in Hindi language by Bakshish. The book was first translated into English by William Irvine in 1829 and was followed by other translations into different languages, including Urdu and Persian. It is one of five major historical works that consist of Babur's memoirs. The original Urdu manuscript is kept at Kabul Museum while two other versions are held at National Archives of Pakistan (in Karachi) and Tajikistan's National Historical Archive (in Dushanbe). Baburnama is the memoirs of the Mughal emperor Babur. They span 25 years of his life and take place before, during and after his invasion of India in 1526. The book covers events in his life that are not mentioned in the "Tuzk-e-Umarsama" (Book of Victory). It was written after his death by his son, Humayun, who later became a Mughal emperor. It is historically significant as Babur was a Turkmen who fought and conquered lands then belonging to Delhi Sultanate, thus laying the foundations of the Mughal Empire in South Asia. It describes the events leading up to his capture of Samarkand and Bukhara from Timurids and his establishment of control over Afghanistan. In addition, it gives an account of Islamic religious beliefs, social practices as well as classical poetry attributed to him. The author has been described as one who had been blessed with a good memory and superior intelligence. He was of a calm and undisturbed nature and did not campaign during the winters. He did not allow his soldiers to take their wives and children, and always chose fight with them on foot. It is also believed that he had mastered all martial arts before his invasion of India. Baburnama, which has been translated by William Irvine, is believed to be one of the greatest works in Mughal history. It is written in an apathetic style, which is mainly due to its author's experience in various part events taking place during his lifetime. The book has been considered important for its accurate description of life within the aristocratic class. It also describes various social practices during the times, which are now extinct. The author's work is divided into 24 chapters, which are reported in different places within the book. The following chapter is composed of four parts: Chapters such as these contain various descriptions and anecdotes of events that took place over a period of time. These chapters, although extensive, cover a very short period of time which can be divided further into "Bahar" and "Babar". cfa1e77820
